So as you may have gathered from my last post, December didn’t get off to the best start, with lovely little Annie dying on the 1st. It took a definite turn for the better when I started my new job on the 2nd, and I’m loving it, but it’s absolutely exhausting and by the time I’m finished at 2pm, I just want to crash out and go to sleep!
The festive mood wasn’t exactly forthcoming this year – normally I’m itching to get the tree up in mid-November, but we reached the first weekend of December with no sign that the tree was going up any time soon, and that’s a sure-fire sign something is wrong when you’re normally as festive as we are.
The truth is, we were all just shattered. This job has been a shock to the system, and none of us have had the energy to do anything much. Even SB is sleepy and grumpy all of the time, and really putting our patience to the test with her tantrums right now!
Still, on Sunday we decided that enough was enough – it was time to get the tree up now. It took a little jiggery-pokery (and a few minor disagreements about where to put the tree/how to decorate it/whether we could just ban SB from the living room for a month, the usual stuff) but eventually, we got it up!
SB was very impressed with the tinsel, even if she did want the ENTIRE box of decorations as opposed to the two non-breakable ones we let her play with, and she wanted to keep the lights in her hands forever (and ever and ever) rather than letting them go up on the windows.
She also had her first taste of ‘hot’ chocolate (a big hit!) and who can forget – she put the star on top of the Christmas tree! It may have taken us a little while to get here, but the Christmas spirit has arrived, and we’re determined to make it a good one!
Sorry to read that you didn’t get off to a great festive start 😦 Hope you start getting into the festive spirit soon! Popping over from #fartglitter

Love the video- her hot chocolate appreciation face is brilliant.
Sometimes you have to force the Christmas spirit a little to begin with. Well done you for finding it despite a bumpy start.
